- ValkyriebushExplorer IINADA guide. google it. It will have your answer.
- JaneNLeeExplorerThank you !!
Have a great day. - bob_nestorExplorer IIIThere are two services available - NADA and Kelly Blue Book. Dealers around where I live tend to use NADA which typically shows a lower value that Kelly. If you're doing a private sale you might want to look at the Kelly estimate.
BTW, Kelly estimates are available on-line. It appears NADA has removed this capability - probably want to sell you their book instead. - robsouthExplorer IIAlso, look at E-bay to get a general idea of what other folks are selling similar RV's for. Any any case, the reality is the sale price will have to be whatever someone else is willing to pay and will probably not be as much as you think the RV is worth. Everyone is looking for a "deal" and there are plenty of them on the market. Good luck.
- bluwtr49Explorer IIThere is almost nothing to help you on trade value. I's totally dependent on the coach you want and if you coach is something the dealer wants and can turn quickly.
Regardless, you will not like the number. After having gone through this with a couple of dealers take the NADA guide low number and divide by 2 for a starting point and negotiate upwards.
If the coach you want is dealer owned your have a lot of dickering room but if it's on consignment it all depends on how hungry the seller is.
Remember on a trade, the dealer is using his money, needs to make a profit, pay the sales guy and still resell it slightly over that low book number.
I traded our Beaver PT and it was about perfect but only got an attractive price at a dealer that moves a lot of Beavers. Another dealer was 30% less so like I said it's totally dealer dependent. - 10forty2ExplorerA lot goes into a trade value versus the actual selling value of a vehicle. In many cases, the salesman will offer you MORE than what you expect for your vehicle making you THINK you are getting a real deal and that they're your buddy. When in actuality, they are simply applying the amount that they're willing to discount off the original sticker price of the vehicle you are wanting to purchase, to the value of your trade-in. In other words, if the sticker price was $100K for the one you wanted they would either offer you a $10K discount on a cash sale OR you'd likely get about $10K more on your trade in but you'd still be trading on $100K instead of $90K. Get it? You're always best to negotiate a cash-sale price first and then entertain a trade with the salesperson. At least then, you know about how much they are willing to come off of sticker price.
But definitely do what you can to find out what the value of your vehicle is too! - Dale_TravelingExplorer IIAs both bluwtr49 and 10forty2 stated there really isn't much regarding what you can or might expect concerning trade in value. At best with both NADA and Kelly you could use the low retail as a starting point and go down from there may be as much as 20%. Dealers have to make a profit to survive and do so by buying low and selling high and constantly moving products out of inventory as quickly as possible.
- randallbExplorerWhat the buyer is willing to pay. We sold our 08 HR to LazyDays for $62,500 2 years ago. It was wholesaled to another dealer and is listed for $69,700. I got a good deal when I sold it and I do not have the headache of a depreciating liability sitting in my shop.
Randy - Clay_LExplorerThe actual trade in value will be close to the wholesale value.
That is shown by NADA in the on-line info for cars I think, but not for motor homes. As stated above the dealers play with the numbers to fake you out.
Years ago we used to use 70% of the low retail for the wholesale value but I don't know if that is still a good number or not. I have been told but have not verified that the dealer NADA books do have a wholesale value. If so you may be able to see one at a local library or friendly local bank or credit union. - cvbdslExplorerNADA site still works and lists low and average retail
NADA Guide RV
Might need to enter your zip code though.
