We just upgraded from our old Splendide 2000S vented to a new Splendide XC2100 vented...the difference is night and day on the units themselves. Splendide has corrected a few of the annoying traits of the 2000S like door unlock delay...the door now unlocks immediately at the end of the cycle and they have incorporated an 'add a sock' ability...you can open the door anytime during the first 10 minutes of any cycle...very handy if you forget to add that extra sock :)
The dryer also dries quite a bit faster and the wrinkling, while still a problem with big loads, is actually very minimal if you keep your load size down a bit. Definitely go with the vented unit..no question..and Splendide is just about the only mfg out there that makes a vented combo for some reason or other. Good luck.
