Vinyl used for couches and dinettes

I'm looking to upgrade from a 2002 to a newer class c, but they all seem to have vinyl or fake leather on the couches and dinettes. I travel to the South in winter, so I basically live in my RV for 6 months. And I have cats. How does the vinyl wear? And does it stretch out from sitting on it a lot?
  • Last year, I purchased a KZ Sportsman Classic and like you I have a pet. I purchased from a small dealer who only sold KZ products. KZ had also recently changed to all dark brown leather on their dinettes and other areas. Since they still used fabric trim in some areas, the dealer called KZ and they agreed to cover the entire dinette and anything else I wanted in fabric. This was done with no additional cost. Call around and visit independent dealers who will work harder to earn your business or call the manufacturer directly.
  • Thank you all for your replies. I guess I have a lot of searching to do!

The issue is you can't "get cloth" about 99% of the time. The RV manufacturers and suppliers of furniture such as Lippert, all went to the cheap pleather starting around 2011. You will be hard pressed to find one today that has cloth and if it does it will be highly unlikely to have it on everything. I suppose you could always go to an upholsterer and have everything redone in cloth if you wanted to spend the bucks to do so, but getting it from the factory is almost impossible. You can forget about it until someone comes up with a cloth that's cheaper to buy and use, then they'll switch in a heartbeat. If they thought they could use tissue paper and get away with it until the warranty was over they would.

  • We have “pleather” recliners by Ashley in our fiver, even with two dogs, they wear good; except for the headrests which are peeling.
