I have a 33' AllegroBus gasser, 7.4 L I tow a wrangler and travel about like you are planning to do. It does a good job most of the time. When in the hill country of texas I sometimes wish I had a diesel with more torque. If I were to up grade I would go diesel, if my lenght were to increase over 33' I would go diesel as well. I drive around 60-mph.
