Washer Dryer combo

With mhs, there are always compromises and everybody has different priorities but for our family, a W/D is a must. As others have mentioned, the combo doesn't have a very large capacity and might not do as good of a job cleaning but I'd much rather have it than have to use the laundrymat. Stacked units certainly give you bigger loads but I don't think I'm prepared to lose that much storage space and I like being able to put the load in the machine and set it to wash then dry and not have to touch it until the clothes is ready to go back into the dresser.

I agree, I love the combo. Start a load, go site seeing and come back and fold and put away. Thinking of buying one for the house.

I dont think many(any) of us look at the $$ costs here.Its the shear convenience of having your own system in your MH and not having to depend on a public system etc

Did you factor in the wear and tear that commercial laundromats place on your clothes? Dirty rooms in bad parts of town using a machine that the last person used to wash his dog bed or worse? Doing laundry at our convenience and knowing things are clean is priceless for us.

X2, IMO, the only decision is whether to get a combo or stacked units. As previously stated, the combo switches to dry without you being there but the stacked pair allows the start of a second load of wash while the first is in the dryer. We have had both types and consider the W&D a must have.

while I have such great people in the forum- anyone have a comment about split bath VS bath and 1/2. still trying to find exactly the unit we want...

If at all possible get the vented 2100XC splendide unit.has larger capacity washing capability.works very very well
there is also a new incandesant unit out now that does not require venting and works very well also(has a filter like air brakes)

We used an older salvaged Kariba (rebadged Splendide) w/d combo at our base cottage for several years as our only machine. Except for a rare trip to the laundromat to do rugs or large quilts, it handled everything we threw at it (well, in it), albeit a bit slowly as others have noted. We finally finished enough of our remodeling to install a full sized stacked washer and dryer set as planned, which was a great improvement on capacity and speed, but we look forward to having another combo or small stackable set in our next RV. The old Kariba lives on serving an elderly seasonal neighbor and her daughter.

We use our Splendide all the time, but is does have it's quirks. Once you get used to them and the bast way to operate it, you'll love it!

1. SMALL LOADS are a must. Keep up with the laundry and you'll be fine.
2. Fold the clothes WET, then put them back in folded and dry them. You'll be amazed at the difference!
3. 1-2 tablespoons of detergent only.
4. Use the shortest wash cycle.

Lastly, if the laundry does get ahead of you, you can jam the washer full of clothes and wash them, then take them to the CG or local laundromat to dry them, or dry in smaller batches, in the Splendide.
