Hey good folks, My wife and I have been to the Oregon coast with our motorhome but we would like to try the coastline of Washington State this time around. Any recommendations for the west coast of Washington State? ~Thanks, John

We camp a lot at both Cape Disappointment State Park and Grayland State Park.Give both or either a try, you won't be disappointed...reservations are a must in the summer.

One of the big differences (we thought) was how the WA coastline roads are not all that close to the ocean. Usually a short walk to see massive piles of trees that had washed ashore. We did enjoy and hope to did the loop again someday.

It kinda depends on the size of your rig. There are a number of parks in the Long Beach area and then none really till you get up past Raymond,then there are a couple at Tokeland.One of those is pretty nice and the other is kinda nice,but basically a fishing camp. From there is Grayland SP,then Twin Harbors SP which is for smaller rigs. Lot's of tent camping and a few 30' and less h/u sites. There is one or two in Westport. Hoquiam River is very nice and then you're heading out to Ocean Shores with Ocean City SP which is hard to get into. Up from there are several member campgrounds,which will usually let you stay there and severale of those are Passport America.There is a small grundgy one on Lake Quinalt and then Klaloch NP,no h/us. The one at Forks and one at Lapush are private and Mora is a NP cg with mostly small sites. Thewre is a private CG at Neah Bay and then you're in hog heaven from there into the Puget Sound area. If you're retired military,there is,I believe, a campground at Pacific Beach and on the ocean at Neah Bay.OOPPSS,I forgot Pacific beach SP,almost impossible to get res there and Bogachiel River SP.We've stayed at almost all of those over the years,with the exception of Klaloch and Bogachiel.

I agree that Cape Disappointment will NOT disappoint. And Kalaloch is great. US 101 doesn't really follow the coast in WA as it does in OR but there are some really beautiful beaches if you're willing to drive or hike out to them. Kalaloch

Depending on when you want to go you may not be able to get reservation in the state parks. The trip is great and take 101 around the "LOOP". Awsome trip.

I'm thinking about throwing the tent in the back of the toad and doing a solo trip around the Olympic Peninsula this summer,possibly in August. There are a number of campgrounds that really lend themselves to that. It is amazing that some of these cgs have had room made for a camp host in a 35'-40' rig and not other sites.
Man.that's sounding better every minute. The DW decided about 20 years ago that tenting wasn't for her.We went from a tent to an 8' Starcraft p/u,14 Coachman p/u,Wilderness 27X TT,Cougar 304 BHS TT and now the Tradewinds LTC. Started with a Jeep Cherokee and woundup with an '01 PSD Excursion and of all of them I really miss the Excursion.

Try the RV park/resort at LaPush (west of Forks), on the coast. One of our favorites and we will be back there this July.

Agree...we stayed at the Sunrise Resort on Heath Lane in 2011. The Kite festival was awesome..walk across a small bridge and you're on the beach....Dennis

After the coast of OR, you'll be disappointed in the northern coast of WA. After Grays Harbor/North Bay I would not bother and head to Olympic NP and the area around Sequim. From there I'd take the Port Townsend/Keystone ferry over to 20 and north to Oak Harbor, Deception Pass, and Anacortes. Washington Park near the ferry to CA is one of the prettiest CG and scenic loops anywhere.
*In looking where Ephrata, WA is, I would not even bother with the southern Pacific coast of WA and instead head straight to Whidbey Island. I might even leave the MH at Anacortes and take the toad to Victory and spend several days there staying in motels as that will be less expensive than taking your 34' RV. It would help if you put your 2000 National Seabreeze in your Sig. If no toad then I would do the loop to Victory and then the ferry to Port Angles and Olympic NP.
