Iam determined to evacuate the hot air from my Pace Arrow eng compartment....not only does it produce tremendous heat but I believe it is trapped there....I have cut two holes above my headlights and ducted 4" ducts of fresh air right on top of my manifolds...next Iam going to remove the mud flaps in front of the front tires cause I believe these are the main air block of the fresh air to to the eng....

I may be mistaken but I think the 454s had a problem with the exhaust manifolds cracking between the exhaust ports and most guys ended up with headers. The water mist probably didn't have anything to do with it. I'm sure somebody else will chime in on this.
For anybody that's thinking about a thermostatic switch to run a pump or aux fan etc. I wanted to give an opinion. I recently converted a car to electric fans with a thermostatic control. After 2 Hayden controllers failing in a 6 month period I switched to a Flex A Lite control and so far so good, but, it's only been a month or so now. The Flex A Lite switch seems a little heavier and is rated to run a fan without a relay, although I used it to operate the relay I already had in place. A failed switch on a mister system isn't as crucial as a main fan, but, still a pita! I just wanted to pass on my recent experience with Hayden products. I bought the Flex A Lite control over the counter at NAPA.
FWIW, Hayden tech support suggested I buy another one of their controllers..........naw!
