Water leak through the fresh water overflow

So this just started after a rather cold night -- in the teens. There seems to be a leak into the fresh water tank. When I turn off the city water the leak stops. Fresh water tank and pump functions normally. Turn the city water back on and eventually the fresh water tank overflow line starts to leak -- well more than a leak more like a steady stream but not as much as if I turned the valves to fill it. Think it is a valve behind the WaterWorks control panel? Or is there something else I could be missing?

Turn off the city water supply and pressure up your system with the water pump. With all water taps OFF if the pump cycles on and off you probably have the stated check valve in the water pump problem.

Or cold be 'fill valve' leaking thru as it also has pressure against it with pump ON.

Easy check........disconnect pump suction line and see if water is back flowing thru pump

Or disconnect downstream fitting on fill valve and see if water is flowing thru valve

    Depends on which is accessible.

Make sure the fill/city water valve is fully moved to the city selection. My valve has marks for each but the valve handle actually needs to be pushed past the decal marks.
Twice I have set the handle to the decal mark and twice the next morning my fresh water tank was filled to over flowing...slow learner I guess.

Hmmmm I will try this in the morning.

The check valve. Is this a self repair-- is the valve replaceable?

  • 2 possible sources......

Water Works 'Fill Valve' leaking thru.
    OR
Pump internal check valve leaking thru.

Both will allow water into fresh water tank while on city water

Use pump....tank's full so use it And by using pump you may clean up any scale/debris on pump check valve so that is seals later when not using pump.

Fill valve on panel.......exercise it Open/Close while on city water and flush water across valve seat. Then close.
