water valve

I turned on my pump last night and everything was fine for a few hours. Then we heard a noise and the pump starting running and never shutoff. I searched and found the valve that turns the motorhome from City to fill had blown the valve off. What do i do? Itried putting it back in, no luck?

Sounds like the valve had water in it over-winter and finally blew out and the valve needs to be replaced.. If that is teh case it's a common 3-way valve though the new one may LOOK different so long as the ports are identifiable and you hook it up right it will work..

These valves often have 1/2 inch IPT Connectors so you can (As a temp measure) get a short 1/2 inch nipple and plug.. Plug the fill line to the tank and connect the other two to the nipple till you get the valve you want.

I mean, you can either repair it or cap it off and never use city water (that's what I did, lol). It is the kind of repair that is worth learning how to do, take a few pictures of what happened and I'm sure folks here could walk you through the repair. You'll have a repaired RV, and more knowledge of your RV too!

Amen to that! I learned how to work with PEX, bought my own crimping tool and keep spare unions, pipe, collars, etc on hand. Pex is super simple to work with and I can do all kinds of stuff for free I would have paid a lot of money for using a plumber or rv tech. (Installed an RO, remote control macerator, fixed leaks, etc)
  • Sounds like you need to replace the valve - I have watched at least one youtube demonstrating how to do that - you may need to have some pex tools.

  • ?? The pvc/pex cracked and blew the valve off? Just cracked and blew the knob off?? the post is rather cryptic. If some section of pipe an/or valve broke, seems like a quick trip to Lowes or HD to get the required replacement parts (pipe, unions, knobs) and 30 minutes should put you back in business. If it's pex, you'll need a crimp tool, or spend the money and get sharkbite fittings.

If plumbing is not something you are comfortable with , call a plumber or see if there is a guy at the CG you are in that can help.
  • What do you mean blown the valve off. It sound like an explosion. One thing you could try it take your vice grips, put two pieces of narrow material over the pipe, and pinch down with vice grips. Another way might be to get a C clamp, and do the same.
