Amen to this!!! We do the same thing when we leave the MH. I have a 1/4 turn ball valve on the water spigot and turn this off before we leave.
As to the pump issue, there's a leak somewhere in your MH causing the pump to continuously run or cycle. I'm not going to speculate on where it is because I would only be guessing. I'd get in there and look everywhere for that leak. Pull as many panels as you can and buy some new batteries for the flash light. I've dealt with leaks over the 20+ years of MHing and nothing beats looking.
Buying and changing the water inlet is a cheap and easy fix. If you suspect it, replace it.
