Waterpump replacement

My 2015 Jayco Redhawk has a defective waterpump. I got power and the motor runs, all connections are good, it just does not pump, so it has to be the pump. Will any replacement pump work or do I need the same pressure/volume? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    WHY??

Pump being 'ON' while hooked up to city water doesn't affect anything.

City water pressure higher than pump set point...pump doesn't run.
City water pressure drops below pump set point ...pump runs

So what is issue with pump ON while on city water :H
  • Just replaced mine. Bought it on Amazon for about $65 or so and arrived in 2 days.

  • Thanks for all the replies.
I did clean the filter. it was fine.
I tested the pump by feeding water directly in the inlet with the outlet facing down (so I was sure it would be the best possible situation) and the pump would not move the water.
    I'll check the warranty.

    Again, thanks.
  • What Brand/Model is current pump?

RV water pumps are designed to run dry without damage......just a diaphragm that moves only 1/8"

2015 Model should still be under warranty.
IIRC ShurFlo is 2 yr. Flojet is 1 yr.
  • hate to see you buy a new ump and have the same problems as before. guess you can keep it for a back up when you do have another problem.
  • I suspect any pump would work - if you get one about the same size it should be easy to install.

Before you buy a new pump you might check and see if the inlet filter is clogged - when the filter gets clogged the water pump will run and run but no water will get to the pump. In my rig that filter got filled with tiny plastic shavings - likely sitting on the bottom of the water tank from the holes they originally drilled when installing the tank/plumbing.
  • Depending on the pump, you can buy just new pump heads for some of the Shure Flows. I bought one recently off of Amazon.

Being a 2015 pump, it seems strange that the pump would be bad. Are you sure it is valved properly? Is there water in the fresh water tank? Do you have an air leak on the suction side? Is the suction strainer plugged with debris? Just some thoughts on the subject, hope that they might help. JMO

No, it is the pump. The design is to blame. If you set the valves for the water system to use water from the pedestal, the pumps can be running all day long, and I think that it what happened.\

    Thanks for the reply!
