Your success & enjoyment of fulltime RV travels depends more on your personality traits than on any specific actions, plans or approach. Whether your DNA has more of the explorer gene rather than the nesting gene is what determines if you'll enjoy it, either for 2 yrs or 16 yrs.
Everything else is flexible and can work 10 different ways for 10 different people. Some fulltimers only move twice a year, some move every 2 days; some still work, some are retired. some are on extended vacation, some are looking to escape real life. some enjoy exploring mother nature, some enjoy casinos.
there is no, one size fits all approach to fulltiming. just like other lifestyles, there are many variations and we all approach it with different goals.
The key is to know yourself, your personality, your priorities, and adjust your approach to fit your needs & wants. Do what makes you happy, not what makes others happy.
I lived & traveled fulltime in my motorhome for 4 yrs. Now, I still RV year round, but I have summer & winter homes that I use as a base between travels. That's just what fits me best, nothing to do with what others should do.
You make good points.
I use to love vacations when I was working, but after two weeks I wanted to go home.
I wondered if I would like RVing. I wondered if I had enough of the adventure gene or would settle for a half dozen trips a year.
After several long summer trips I realized I accepted my house on wheels as my home. So now I have the best of both worlds as I can adventure and be at home. RVing is wonderful.
