- pianotunaNomad IIIHi,
I visited the RV to get some silicone for a project at home. I noted the solar system was charging away at 15.2 volts because of the low temperatures.
I checked my min/max thermometer and found the low was -12 C. - pianotunaNomad IIIHi,
My Rv has lovely locking latches for the interior compartments. The knobs look like metal. However they are just plastic. (Typical corner cutting, eh?)
The other day, one came off right in my hand and I noted how flimsy they were.
There are six little plastic open segments on the inside of each knob, plus a threaded hole. I stuffed in Kleenex and filled up the segments with crazy glue, essentially making them into a solid piece of plastic, other than the threaded hole. When I put the knobs back on I used a tiny drop of Gorilla glue in the hole to keep them tight and stop them unscrewing by themselves in future. - EMD360ExplorerWe are having a cold snap. Only made it into the 60's for a few days straight and as low as 49 at night. Planning where to camp for the 3 day weekend. Glad we don't have to winterize as long as we stay out of the mountains.
- rehoppeExplorerCrawled under the cover.Checked the state of charge on all batteries. Put the mothballs into the basement compartments.
It's official now. Done for the year. Cover's on, pink stuff is in, and mothballs, are stinking, and it's plugged in for the winter. - PestyExplorerI admit not all today but in the last months I have installed on our Winnebago Minnie 27 a Kenwood DNX9980HD indash GPS Sirius and many other feature receiver. HWH Leveling jacks and Banks Power Pack System. Plus lots of little things to make living aboard easier. Love all these things The Kenwood has made trips so much better finding things music from radio all the way to the end with no commercials. The water runs down the drains and bed is flat. Also the hole place doesn't shake when someone moves. Now I can maintain 65 with just a light touch on the pedal and it shifts much better and has no problem with hills or keeping up with traffic.. Very happy I don't have to winterize :C
- pianotunaNomad IIIHi,
I prefer using two 1/2 size radiant oil filled heaters (484 watts) in the rear corners of the bedroom. I was concerned about them "cooking" the wall over time and also wanted the heat from them to stay inside rather than traveling through the thin walls of the rv.
I looked in vain for a metal reflector at various hardware places.
Finally I ended up at the dollar store. I bought some foil oven bottom liners and some 1/8 inch foam board. After cutting the foam to nest in the foil pan, it was glued into the pans with contact cement. There are four reflectors installed using thumb tacks in each corner. The foam does a tiny bit of insulating but was used to keep the pans from collapsing and touching the wall.
Now the heat from the rear side of the oil filled heater is reflected back into the RV, making them more energy efficient.
Before installing them, I did "torture test" them by placing one directly on top of a full size oil filled heater running "flat out".
Cost for materials was under $6.00 for the four heat reflectors. - snowdanceExplorer

has anyone ever added the pink stuff by adding it to the fresh water tank and pumping it thru the lines first time doing this thanks.
Drain fresh water tank first then add pink stuff to tank. Drain and Bypass the water heater if you have a bypass. If not it takes a lot of extra pink stuff depending on size of water heater. Run water pump until you have pink stuff at each location. Most RV's have water line drains at the end of the piping so open and get it there too. Drain holding tanks. Dump pink stuff down each drain. I have never had any trouble getting it out of my tanks in 20 plus years. Just drain pink stuff and flush tank twice. - ronfishermanModerator

I have done it that way. But it takes a lot of tank flushes to get all the pink stuff out of the tank. - thebeach300Explorerhas anyone ever added the pink stuff by adding it to the fresh water tank and pumping it thru the lines first time doing this thanks.
- NoraExploraExplorer2004 - 23ft Gulfstream BT Cruiser. Got the fridge fixed so it will switch over to gas. Installed a trickle charger. Fixed it so running the engine charges my house battery. Replaced floor carbon monoxide detector; replaced the one on the ceiling with w co2/smoke detector combo (it actually talks as well as alarms). Having all the roof seals redone (factory missed a few spots). Cleaned out water heater and checked anode.Oiled the retractable steps. Checked all fluids in engine, batteries and generator. Winterized. Still have side seams to check.
Ok, I confess. My mobile RV repairman did the work. :R
