What good are clearance lights?
So I am resealing my roof and the front clearance lights look bad, cracked, screws rusted up and I am thinking about replacing them. Then I wonder, what good are they? Are they required? Why? Why not...

The "full width" Hummer H1 is only 86.5" wide (Military version is 85"). Most Class A and many Class C motorhomes, as well as many 5'vers and TT's, are between 96" and 102" wide, as are most OTR truck/trailer combinations and OTR buses. The Hummer is also under the 10,000 lb minimum for clearance, identification, and other large vehicle lighting requirements.
Thanks, Did you know the only vehicles allowed on the freeway over 96 inches wide WITHOUT AN OVERSIZE PERMIT are RV's and Flat Bed Tow trucks? both of which are 102" wide. Not counting mirrors.
