Can't go wrong with a CR-V. After a day of driving the motorhome, they seem like sports cars. They tow four wheels down, without having to be 4wd, though ours is. Soft road vehicles, definitely not designed for serious off road. Wanted a Wrangler, but my ever so smart wifey insisted on something that was both an automatic and would be comfortable in very cold and very hot weather. Had a Grand Cherokee Overland ft4wd with our previous coach. At 4700 lbs, it was too heavy. It would go anywhere and do anything, but I couldn't rely on it. Even my buddy who was a Dodge/Jeep service advisor warned me against the purchase. Good thing I took his advice and bought the extended warranty. Even the heater had to be replaced! Only thing I would caution you about is that the OEM batteries don't hold up well to extended towing. Solutions to that are addressed elsewhere. And compare their resale value!
