- wa8yxmExplorer IIIFirst.. all 1500 watt space heaters put out the exact same amount of heat, Ceramic, Hot wire, Quartz, Oil filled, none of this matters, they all put out the same amount of heat they are all exactly 100% efficient.
Given this,, Look for quality of construction, small size and tip over protection. I have 4 of them here, two are Ceraminc two are hot wire and all but one oare the same size (About 4 by six by eight) (the last one is bigger but it has a soild state thermostat and a few other "Bells"
Also be careful of the wiring in your RV, one of my outlets was clearly not up to a 1500 watt load and had to be replaced.. I put in heavy duty outlets fed by 12 ga wire, each with it's own breaker for them and no more smell of melting insulation.
What would I like (And likely will buy as my next replacement) CW has a small 1500 watt fake Fireplace,, About the size of 2 of my current heaters.. (or the screen on this Win-8.1 computer) Looks good and works well. - GREGORYJExplorerWe bought a 1500W cube style ceramic heater but found the fan too noisy at night when trying to sleep. We now have 2 oil filled heaters, taller one in the front(1500W) and a smaller on in the bedroom(750W).
- RoyBExplorer III only use the oil-filled type electric heaters due to thier being very safe with no visible flame or red hot core, very quiet (only go click every now and then) and no burnt heated dust smell... If you have kids and fur babies around these have to be the safest thing to have.
If I need to move some heated air around the room I sit one of those O2COOl AC/DC/D-Cell 10-inch fans behind one...
One post here indicated the oil-filled heaters may be too large. They do come in a bunch of different sizes. I use the tall stand up type in my 5th wheel and the 14-inch low profile size in my off-road POPUP.
Roy ken - Road_DogExplorerSmall cube heaters make to much noise! I have a Vornado for the coach and 3 Lasko tower heaters for the home. All of them are nice and quiet!
- RLS7201Explorer IIBuy the cheapest and smallest 1500 watt heater you can find. All those more expensive heaters are just marketing. Non of them are rated for more than 1500 watts. If you want decor with you heat, then spend more money. I have two 1500 watt heaters from Walmart with thermostats and tip over switch. Less than $20 each.
Richard - J-RoosterExplorerA Presto Heat Disc that I bought from Costco! I haven't used it since I've been coming to Arizona 4 years ago.
- pianotunaNomad IIIHi,
The safest are oil filled as their surface temperature is much lower. For "immediate" heat radiant are the best--as they warm what ever they are pointed at (i.e. ME).
I use magic carpets as well, which have carbon nano fiber inside and produce a heat of about 38 C (100 f) and warm the floor very nicely. - Johno02ExplorerGet something ceramic, thermostat is good, tip-over switch is absolutely necessary! ocillating feature is another good choice.
- wny_pat1ExplorerA 20 year old Pelonis Disc Furnace, that is still going strong, in the utility bay. And a Vornado PVH Heater in the living area. Would switch them around, but the Vornado will not fit in the utility bay. The old Pelonis puts out much more heat!
Plan on buying another nice older Pelonis Disc Furnace if I can find a nice one on ebay. The new ones are no where near as good! - LynnandCarolExplorermodel cc13652 is the 1500W Lasko heater that we have. Purchased at lowes and we love it for our 31'TT. It has a thermostat setting and is ceramic.
