- moparmaga2ExplorerI tow a 6000 lb Dodge Ram 4x4. Just towed it to California and back and still beat the trucks on every grade which is fast enough for me.
2015 and 2014 Ford E450s have a 22000 lb gcwr which makes them capable of towing 7500 lbs.
Forest River class c's are already coming standard with a 7500 lb hitch and tow rating to reflect these new numbers.
Expect other manufacturers to follow suit quickly. A 7500 lb tow rating is more than most low to medium end diesel pushers, a great selling point.
Click here for the ford specs that state a 7500 lb tow rating. - OldmeExplorer2005 Honda CRV automatic on an ACME EZ Tow dolly.

We used to tow an approx 3300 pound cj5 with a 1986 Tioga. It was slow with or without the toad. But reliably delivered 5mpg.
Also, I'm considering switching to a 2008+ 31' C with a 2006 model style Ford Explorer at approx 5000 pounds.
Anyone have experience with this sort of weight as a toad?
Just looking at the numbers for a 2008 or so 31'C, it's probably rated to tow about 5,000# if it's on a Ford, or about 3,500# if it's on a Chevrolet chassis. Unfortunately many class Cs with that length, are near or over their GVWR. For 2007 it's 14.050# for both Ford and Chevrolet, with Ford having a 20,000# GCWR, while Chevrolet has a 17,600# GCWR (according to Itasca's specs for 2008 class C MHs). Being close to or over the GVWR would affect how much it's rated to tow without exceeding the GCWR. That's not to say it wouldn't/couldn't do it, but you would be near, at, or over the ratings. - RedJeepExplorerWe used to tow an approx 3300 pound cj5 with a 1986 Tioga. The auto trans is a killer, unless you put it on a trailer. What is your max tow weight?
The Colorado Auto, is Curb Weight 3,555 lbs with me in it at a truck stop and hitch weight is 30 lbs (yes thirty pounds). The Colorado is made to be towed, the MH is rated at 5000lbs. Hold down 2 buttons for 10 seconds and that is it.
Ahh yes a Colorado, I'm towing a Saturn now but I'm on the lookout for a Colorado. I can't get enough of the other must have "junk" in the rear seat of the car....lol - DakzukiExplorerReplace the wife and keep the toad.....and you can't have my dearest. She likes her Vibe.
- Cloud_9ExplorerWow, great feedback, thanks to all. tow weight is 5000lbs. Yup, a better title may have been how heavy? The Vibe tows very well, however, dh can't/won't drive it.
Carl - Hank85713Explorerwe have 2800 lb Hyundai Elantra, 4 down as it is a standard. Plenty roomy for 2 and yet has full fold down seats in rear if extra storage space needed.
- bukhrnExplorer IIII have a 2014 Ford Focus, @ about 2948 I believe, it is flat towable, but I already had the dolly, so that's how I tow it.
