WHERE HAS ALL MY POWER GONEHere is my storm story , I had run geny for three days suppling the house with the most needed creature comforts 110 v water well,Light and coffee. Then on fourth day no power out of front storage compartment outlet which has GFI with inverter plugged into it ( not sure if I pulled the plug or not memory lose). I moved cord to rear compartment outlet which had power and went on for next eight days then house power was restored by great out of state power crews. The next day after nice hot shower I start to check MH outlets for problem and find there is no power in TV cab.outlet , bath outlet with GFI and front lower outlet at passanger side floor outlet but have power in all other outlets. I check and try to reset GFIs but no luck. I pull outlets and check wire connection and put test light to them with no power, check all breakers in panal and wire connection to breakers all tight and all are hot still no clue. Question to all where has all my power gone long time passing!!! I have called Newmar tech support who pullled up my Vin. and E-Mailed wire diag. which shows all outlets on one circuit, they seem to think it is a lose wire on one of the outlet but I have power on other outlets in between powerless outlets. HOW CAN THAT BE*** I also have power coming in to the inverter in the compartment which has the dead outlet . HELP IS NEEDED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LONG PAINFULL STORY TO TRY TO PUT INTO WORDS. __________________

If you cannot reset a GFCI receptacle, indicates there is no power to them.If you have one of the little three light circuit tester plug it in to outlets to see if it can identify the problem.Yes, a receptacle may have a piercing connection loose.You said you have inverter. Did you try to push the reset on it?

As Bud said, there may be a receptacle with a piercing connection loose. However, the three light circuit tester won't find that because it is most likely in a receptacle that is still powered, but not feeding the power to outlets downstream. Good luck.

GFI bad,it should trip when you hit the test button.

I did reset fuse on inverter which did not seem to be popped but did not check with test plug but will do so in the am:. Could it be a problem before the panel as transfer switch or 50 amp. plug.I would not think the outlets would be without a breaker in the panel but possible there is another breaker that Newmar is not tell me about.Crazy thing there is power in outlets up stream and down stream also. I may have to call in a tech or elec.guy.But still will be checking transfer switch wiring for lose lugs in the am:. Well good thing is spring is still four months off and I'am winterized.

That happened to me once and I had to reset the 20 amp circuit breaker on the inverter. It is a little black button and after resetting it,all was well.

Have had that happen a couple of times.. Power into the inverter but no power out, Power out showing on inverter's display but no current flowing.

Bad connection, inverter Junction box (in my case) I'd start checking there.

Then ..... Follow the wires.

I had a cheap snap wire outlet that went bad and let the wires pop out stopping the electric from continuing to the other outlets. Tech guy who picked it up at first outlet out of panel.He installed home type outlets problem fixed.Cost $$$.
In the am: we are of for first trip out this season to Maryland shore.

I worked on a 5th wheel a couple of years ago that had an intermittent 120volt connection in a metal box under the couch. Some of the outlets would work some wouldn't.

I have tried that and when TV switched on it kicks the inverter out, I have to switch it off then on and it will only power dig. converter and VCR and will not carry TV and converter,VCR.I have no power to the back side the GFI's that is with multi.meter. but the panel is all hot. I'am out off testing capablites.

Take an extension cord and plug your inverter into a known good source. that will tell you if it's good or bad, and it's a simple test. My bet is the GFI is tripped, and you'll need to figure out why.

Well yesterday I did more testing on ac panel and all breakers have 120v nothing is dead in there so I'am figuring it has to do with inverter so a call will go out to my tech.guy. This is probably simple but out of range for me. I belive all the outlets that are dead all are tied into inverter( TV and VCR, and two GFIs one in front lower compartment the other in bath). The wirring diag. from Newmar does not show two GFI and does not match what I'am looking at they show more 120 outlets and switches.The inverter is in lower compartment and input was plugged into that GFI which is dead.The inverter company is telling me the inverter should be set up in it's own panel with breakers but I have owned this coach for 5 yrs. and I no of no other panel.There are a few junction Box with multi. wires which all seem to be hot but that is with the buzz tester and I don't want to try and pull all wires out as I'am no expert by far. A PHONE CALL IS GOING OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Tired of thinking about this.:?

Cold and bad weather has moved in so I will wait for
a warmer day to check further. Thanking all for the facts and a great new year.This problem will be solved in the new year TWO THOUSAND AND THIRTEEN (2013). If you can belive that 2013 what happened to 1970.

In your circuit breaker box turn the breaker for the outlets "all" the way off then back on to reset.

A GFCI has a LOAD and LINE the "input" voltage is on the LINE side output is LOAD.
You need to measure between the black wire and the white wire then from the black to the green or bare wire on the LINE side to verify input voltage from the breaker box.

I apologize if you are familiar with electrical circuits and already know this a lot of folks don't.

MSW inverters do not have a clean sine wave output they have a "modified" sine wave and your meter is designed for measuring a clean sine wave a high reading especially under no load is normal.

normally there is only one gfi per circuit,if two are installed in one circuit the circuit will be dead beyond the first gfi ,

My xantrex 2000 watt miodified sine wave inverter output reads high (135 volts?) Which I was told by xantrex that it is normal for MSW inverter. Not sure if 144 is too high, but you should call the manufacturer to verify.
