I live near Asheville, so have never stayed there. However, I did check out Bear Creek and it is small, neat and well kept. The nice sites are back ins; don't go to the pull throughs as they are in a different area and not very nice. There is nothing to do once you are there, either. As cold as it's been, I doubt they will have the small pool open.
If it were me, I'd look at the two KOA's, one on the east side and one on the west side. With 40, 240, and 26 running thru you can get to Biltmore pretty quickly.
Biltmore is expensive but worth it. Just be sure to make a day of it and see everything. They have a great winery and gardens and that should be a great time to visit. I think the stables are open, but not sure anymore. It is truly America's castle. If you've ever watched Downton Abbey, that's the Biltmore.
