So you would be fine with a dealership saying your Out The Door Price is mutually agreed upon $xxx Including EVERYTHING you discussed with back and forth emails and telephone conversations with their word saying that includes EVERYTHING we discussed .
You fly out to get your New MH and find out several agreed upon items ARE NOT included and now YOU have to pay for them..
I call that misleading, deceiving and being dishonest !
So saying all this , then when you bought out of state TT, MH did you consider the cost of registration into your negotiating the final cost offer in purchasing said TT,MH ?
I don't mean to sound like an ahole , I just see/say things black and white . No grey area..
I have a set amount I have to spend and that is it for a set purchase, I don't want any "oh we forgot this or now I have to pay that"
That is why I always deal with OTD price. That way there is no surprises at time of delivery . If I forgot something then its on me same as if they forgot something. Then the financing comes into play weather I pay cash or finance it..
In this deal I was going with paying cash for the full amount of deal, I told the guy up front , I did my research on the MH optioned it out exactly the way I could afford it. Offered what I considered a fair price and after a few back and forth emails , phone calls he said we have the deal ... NOT !!!
I bought my motorhome out of state from a private seller, so perhaps things were a bit clearer. I gave him the bank check, he gave me the title, and I went to the NH DMV to get a transit permit ($10 or $20, I forget), then drove home to VT and paid registration, taxes, and so forth. Naturally, I did figure the cost of Vermont registration and use tax when negotiating the price.
I'm not trying to suggest that you don't have a misunderstanding with the dealer you're working with in this specific point, as obviously you do, but rather that I don't see it as proof of malfeasance on their part. With the transit permit/temp registration, you very much can drive out the door of the dealer legally. From what you've written, the price you're being quoted does include registration (albeit temporary), their document fee, and apparently the taxes you'll owe—title, tax, and registration. (I also obviously don't have as full a picture as you do, and don't know anything about the other things you believed were taken care and weren't. It's well within the realm of believability that the dealer may be a bit sleazy.)
