Window fog

I have a 2007 DP which has been in a garage when not in use for most of its life. But this year it has been outside due to construction om a new garage. I have noticed that on the window on the drivers side has developed a fog. At first I thought the seal on the window had broken and moisture had gotten inside but on close inspection it appears to be on the outside of the window. I cleaned the window and it looks clean until the sun shines on it. Anyone have an idea what is going on? The window that has the fogging problem is where the water coming of the roof runs.
  • I'm betting it's the seal and the water you're putting on the outside of the window is only making the fog on the inside go a way for a period. I had the same thing and could actually make it go away with the warmth of my hand depending on the temp. Took my RV to the Searcy location this past September and they did a great job at a reasonable price. Great people too with full hookups in their parking lot.

If you wet a spot on the window, does the "fog" disappear in the wet spot?

If yes, your fog is on the outside of the window. The glass has become contaminated or etched by hard water, acid rain, or ????.

Google "glass restoration" and you will find some info. There are commercial products to help with your problem. I've not used any of them yet, but some appear to be promising.

A glass polish might also cure your problem.

If you get it fixed, come back and share the solution.

  • That is just the nature of the beast. There will be more down the road. I have had all my windows resealed by Dave Root. You can order the kit from him and do your own windows.
