Window size Four Winds Majestic 28ft & tow hitch nose weight

Our rear window is an emergency egress, but it is a one and done sort of thing. We have a red tab that would get pulled and thus remove a trim piece that would release the whole window, presumably leaving it in a pile of safety glass pebbles on the ground.

OP - Have you considered inflatables? That's the direction we went with kayaks when we switched from a truck and trailer to our C.

All the 08 and 09 Cruise units had a rear window. It does not open though.

Rear hitch is 2,500 gross, 200# tongue so that generally precludes putting a scooter on a rack back there. It's not a liability issue as someone else posted, but rather, due to the front end getting *very* light with that much weight hanging off the rear. Don't forget, the water tank and the cargo compartment are both back there as well.

Put the scooter on a rack mounted up front and you'll be good to go, but you will chew up ball joints faster with the additional weight in the front.

Hmmmm ... the rear window in the back of our 24 foot Class C opens with special red colored handles as an emergency exit. I thought/assumed it was the law that some kind of emergency escape capability be available as close to the back of Class C motorhomes as possible? The bedroom window on the rear drivers side is the emergency exit. It is as you described it, red handles. Same as Gotsmart's 28R.

I have 2 retired Cruise America 28R motorhomes, a 2007 (2006 chassis) and a 2008 (2007 Chassis).
The 2007 has a 5K - 500 pound hitch, but a sticker from cruise america that the limit was 2.5K 250. I did check with the and they told me the real capacity if 5K-500, they restrict to 2.5K to avoid liability.
Now the 2008 is different. The hitch is rated to 2.5K - 250, so that is the maximum you can do. You might need to ask them before you buy it.

The driver-side rear bedroom window is the egress window on my 28R. It is a horizontal sliding window (with screen) - within a tilt-out emergency window that is secured with two red latches.


The CruiseAmerica 28R is built by Four Winds - to CruiseAmerica's rental specifications. As noted by tenbear, the rear window on my 28R also does not open.

You might want to check out front mount hitches here ... then just use with it the same type receiver scooter rack as you would in a rear hitch:

Carrying a scooter in the front would then leave the rear area available for carrying a lightweight folding canoe or kayak. This would keep a heavy weight from being suspended out the rear way back from the rear axle on a long lever arm and thus unloading the front axle to possibly worsen handling going down the road.

More weight in the front would actually improve the handling/steering on many Class C motorhomes.

That's where I would carry one, since the rear overhang of Class C motorhomes is so much greater than that of Class A/B motorhomes and trucks.
