Windsheild Stress Cracks

We have two stress cracks on our Class A windshield. One on each side (passenger/driver) along the frame. Unfortunately it will not pass another inspection so we are having it replaced. It is a split windshield. Good Sam is our coverage. Anything we should know before calling for the adjuster? Will they cover stress cracks? I know they cover hail storm damage. Will they charge deductible for BOTH sides or is it considered a single event? Please advise...

  • When my coach was new....within 6 months I had a stress crack in the drivers' side windshield...started at the top/middle, went down maybe 12 inches then went to the right...maybe 2 feet.

Assured by my dealer that the windshield would not "cave in" on me, within a week I had it replaced. Never had another stress crack since.

Now...if I could somehow stop the stones from hitting the windshields (2), it would be great. Right now...an impact on one....and a ever-larger spiderweb on the other.
  • Do you own a Winnebago!? If it is the stress cracks may be because of a rusted windshield frame. Went through that repair last year with ours
  • Only your insurance company can answer that question. I suspect it depends on your state. I know that here in Virginia, windshields are covered for 100% regardless of your carrier or coverage. Makes sense that it would be in the best interests of the insurance company for you to be able to see clearly where you are aimed.
