Winnebago Products windsheild cracking

There must have been an issue before, because that was a big selling point on my 2013. They gave me a whole presentation on how the windshield is mounted the same as a new auto with the glass floating and glue on the side.

I don't know when the redesign occurred. I heard Tiffen had a similar issue, but came up with a different fix.

Check I see what jacks were on the MH. There are some independent jack that if not raised in pairs. You can twist the chassis. I had a set like that on my FW Coranado. Had to be real careful.

It has less to do with leveling and jacking and more to do with how the end cap is slapped on as it goes down the assembly line and then the windshield put it. I went through two. Both cracked in the same lower right corner and was not due to levelng. Then I found these guys RV Glass Solutions and had my third placed in properly.

For many years Winnebago had an issue with the metal frame behind the glass rusting and causing the windshield/s to crack. That issue seems to be resolved in later model years when they changed the design of the front cap to allow the glass to be mounted directly to the fiberglass.

Yes this was a problem. In fact so much of one I'd call it a design issue. If cracks are happening all the way into the 2010's I think it is a major problem. As stated above it was 2013 as selling points... I don't want to point a finger at Winnie but I do wish they'd recall. They DO make a great coach though without a doubt. This is the "blah" in a a sea of good.

Well I guess the Blah - Blah I got was from a salesman :) I really don't know.

I have heard of Winnebago folks getting cracked windshields due to frame rust, but i have never heard of a Winnebago windshield cracking due to use of the jacks. I have heard of it frequently for other brands, however, who build their front cap/attach their windshields differently.

When I visited RV Glass Solutions in Phoenix last year the tech told me a lot of windshields are cracked because owners don't relieve stress off the front suspension before they level. He said many back their coaches in with the front wheels turned at a large angle. He recommended straightning out the wheels then moving slightly forward to take all the stress off the front end before leveling.

I'm on my third windshield, but all from the rock throwers on the highway.

Some brands are also suceptable to having their windshield pop out.

These 1 piece windshields are not in-expensive.
