Windshield Washer Nozzles

Anybody know how to adjust the spray on the windshield washer nozzles on an '07 E450 ?
When I hit the washers, the spray hits the overhang, not even hitting the windshield. :h
  • Check the nozzles closely, I have seen some that were adjustable within the housing, using a very small screwdriver or an awl.
  • I too think they are adjustable but in my experience you will need a paper clip to fit in the hole and turn the little ball. We have an Explorer and that is the nozzle they use as does my Sidekick and Grand Vitara and most of the late model vehicles.
  • At what speed? The washer jets are factory aimed with the assumption you will be needing them at highway speeds, so they will go high when the vehicle is stationary. I had one car in which they would shoot over the car entirely when it was parked, hit the middle of the windshield at 60 mph.

If you aim them to the middle of the windshield when not moving, they will hit too low when moving, maybe even below the range of the wipers.

Doesn't matter, sitting still, they hit the overhang, at 60-65,they hit the overhang & the molding at the top of the windshield. :(
  • Take sewing needle a big one and use that to aim the small ball with a hole on the plastic housing to align the pattern of squirt, aim the jets to the area where the upper part of the wipper passes, if there are three balls aim the center one a little higer and the other two a foot to a foot and a half on both sides, take unit out for a spin and test, if not good, reaim until you have a good spray patern at the speed that you normally travel on the highway.

I thought it was going to be that easy, as it was on my Kia, but these aren't built that way.
