Winnebago vs Itasca (View vs. Navion)

Dear All,

So we are closing in on a new Sprinter chassis product. We have seen the View from Winnebago and really liked it. Does anyone know if there is really any difference between the Winnebago and Itasca product? We seem to be talking about a 15k price differential. I just have trouble believe there is absolutely no difference for such a large variation ...

  • Thanks a million for the ideas - those two dealers seem very highly recommended. I assume people are not having major problems with local service?

Also, it looks to me that the way the Navion prices are kept "lower" is by bringing them to dealers with fewer expensive options - for example full body paint. Not clear I want full body paint in any case ...

  • steveandjil, You should look at Winnebago/Itasca on Lewis RV in Ohio. They will give you a quote that is probably the lowest price out there. Lewis RV.

They have new 2014 Winnebago ITASCA Navion 24J listed on RV Trader for $84,900. Also Lichtsinn in Iowa has good prices. We bought ours from Lichtsinn and saved a lot of money. Well worth the 800 mile trip from Colorado. Also look at View/Navion website on Yahoo Groups: View/Navion Forum

They also have a V/N tech forum. Lots of good info from owners.
  • and the MSRP (103-108) reflects a markup of maybe 30-40% over dealer price so deal it down. If you search all candidates online you will probably find a dealer somewhere that is offering one for the low price. It will give you the courage of your conviction for negotiating with the dealer you want to do business with. That's how it played out with me.
  • Thanks guys - I think this may be a case of the Winnebago dealers saying the price is 1,000,000 and they will give it away at 105,000.

  • If identically equipped the same model of View and Navion should be equivalent, but not identical. There are different offerings in interior color combinations.

If any two examples have greatly different manufacture dates, there could be differences that result from running changes in design or engineering. For the same model year motorhome, there could be different model years for the van cutaway, because the RV model year change leads the chassis model year change by six to ten months.

A newer model year on the chassis is one of the changes that can significantly change the MSRP of two equivalent motorhomes. A change in the price of the chassis can also occur within the model year, as these are purchased in batches and the contract for each batch might be separately negotiated. But the price from M-B should not differ by as much as $15K.

It is also possible, if two different dealers, that the prices at one dealer may reflect a sales incentive that the other dealer did not get.
  • The MSRP from Winnebago/Itasca are identical for each of the models. And the different models only vary by about $5000. If you are really comparing the same model of each, then it is the dealer who is adjusting the prices differently.
