Winterizing Class A with hose reel

Hi All,
In the process of winterizing my motorhome. It has a power driven hose reel that is behind a panel, the hose comes out of a port in a partition. Can someone give me a hint on how to get antifreeze through the hose reel to the valve that switches between city water and the tank? I've had 5th wheels for many years, this is my first motorhome that I bought in May of this year. Figure if I can't get antifreeze to flow I won't get compressed air to go either. There must be a check valve somewhere like on the 5ver? It's a 2005 Holiday Rambler Ambassador 36PDD.
  • I figured it out. I just hooked up the outside faucet to the reel and pumped water through. Easy enough once I gave it a little more thought.
  • I have the reel also. I use it with the correct fittings to blow the entire system out with air @ 40psi. I never use AF in the water system, only in the p-traps.

Antifreeze? Why do you want to spend money on Antifreeze

Runroll the hose, unhook both ends, "Walk it" from the motor home to the open end to drain it, Then hook up an air compressor and blow it out.

Then open all valves on the motor home and blow it out (Drain whater heater and bypass first) cycle the Ice maker twice, and blow again, and again, (like 5 or 10 times) and finally put Antifreeze in drains and toilets only.

If the air ever freezes.. You won't be worried about the RV'
And come spring, you wont' have to get the taste of the Pink stuff out of the lines.

Put air on the hose, it will blow the water out as you open each valve inside until no more water comes out. I use 120 psi air BUT never have all the valves closed at the same time. I make sure the water pump is pumping air before putting air on the city water hose. I only put antifreeze in the P traps and the washing machine... Actually I take it to Fla.:B :B
  • Why not simply unreel it on the ground and raise it to drain by hand? Why put juice in it?
