Yet Another Stupid Newbie Question...

This Saturday we head out on our first MH trip with our new MH. We are very excited. Here's my newbie question....

When we stay overnight for just 1 night, and DO NOT level, I am assuming the air stays in the air bags overnight. (it's an air ride diesel pusher, 2014 Winnebago 36M).

Is that correct or do I somehow need to dump the air out of the air bags even though I am not leveling and will not be perfectly level. Note: When I auto level, the air gets dumped from the bags.

Thanks, Tom

Why would you NOT want to be level if you're parked for the night???:h.

Sleeping with your head lower than your body will give you a terrible headache in the morning. We always push the button and level for the night. Only takes a couple minutes in the morning to reinflate the bags.....Dennis

I definitely want to be level when I'm parked for the night, but my airbags are always level (Hadley smart air management system) so there is no need to push any button unless I'll be there a few days. For extended stays, I would use the jacks.
  • No one answered your question. The airbags do not dump if you do not put the jacks down. They may lose some air but will quickly charge up when engine is started. You should not be afraid to level unless ground is not solid. The issue of the refrigerator is way out of date. It will not be irreparably damaged.
  • I do that often on an overnight stop if the pad is level enough. Totally a judgement call.

  • Newer fridges aren't as sensitive to leveling. Slides are....the unit has to move easily/evenly withing the exact hole cut in sidewall for it. We use a bubble level. If any part of the bubble is in the bullseye, we have always been good to go. I am assuming you do not have hydraulic/electric levelers. If one has those, very little reason not to level except for hot asphalt etc.

What does the manual say? I doubt you would do any real damage to the fridge since it's a residential type. Heck even the new LP ones aren't as prone to be off kilter a bit. Putting the slides out might require to be level, again refer to your manual.
  • Will you be running out the slides? Will you have food in the fridge? If yes to either one or both leveling is required. Winnebago requires the coach be level before running out the slides. The refrigerator must be level or else it can be irreparably damaged.
