If so, the luckiest people will be those sitting on top of the caldera. The rest of the country (probably the world) will experience multiple feet of ash falling which will render farmland sterile. Transportation, communications and basic services will fail. Temperatures will plummet due to the ash cloud. Sulfuric acid rain will add to the ambiance. Food shortages will lead to famine and almost certainly the breakdown of society. That is what the lucky survivors have to look forward to.
