DW loves hers! Seems to boil water relatively quickly and does very well with other foods. You must use skillets or pans that are made of magnetic type steel and not aluminum, copper or stainless for the induction burner to work. I like the fact that you can remove the pot from the burner and then place your hand on the surface and not get burned. When we got ours they were running a special, 2 for the price of one and included several pans. We use these in our 5th wheel instead of the stove top. Seem to be very energy efficient as well. We normally have both fired up and have never had electrical issues. A hot plate is going to draw much more amps.
