Well I made these and overall I would say they are as good as the dumpling recipe I have, but with more common ingredients.
I didn't use the pie filling because I had a couple of Granny's that I needed to use. I diced them and added a 1/2 cup applesauce as a filler, threw in a few red hots and cinnamon and then followed the recipe almost to the letter. I did alter by going with 8 enchiladas and I added 2 Tbs of everything but water for the sauce. It seemed to come out right.
Very good and easy desert for RV'ers. It should work fine in a Dutch oven also.
