- jbrowningExplorerMost of the time, the only grease I have is after I make hamburgers. I let the grease cool down but not harden. Then I use paper towels to wipe out the pan and the paper towels go into the garbage.

Ever see that 'Cable Guy' Tv ad for, I think, Prilosec? Some antacid/heartburn pill that's so effective you can keep overeating all the******you want!??
lol, no! too funny!
When our diet got restrictive, we took it as an oppty to actually get more creative. We search for recipes from different cultures, using different ingredients, and rate whether or not the recipe is a keeper. We are never bored and while our diet wasn't "bad" before, it's better now.
tonight I am making Morroccan chicken. Street vendors used to sell whole rotisseried Moroccan chicken outside our son's apartment building when he loved in Brussels and he loved it. - GjacExplorer IIIWhen much younger I would save it to cook with now I just pour it into the fire and watch it burn. Although I must admit I still like fish fried in bacon grease.

It's not exactly the sign of a healthy diet.
I must be the only one without this problem. I don't have cooking grease. .
My "bacon" is organic turkey bacon and I really like it. It doesn't render off any fat. Most of the fat used in cooking here is organic EVOO, although I do use a touch of butter.

I recycle potpourri tart wax for that. I take a cardboard egg carton, fill the indentations with either accumulated dryer lint or clean wood shavings from the barn supply, and pour the melted wax in each indent. Close the lid. Cool. Voila, fire log. You can actually produce larger quantities by buying paraffin wax blocks. Dixie cups work, too, for small starters.
but I digress from cooking fat. - 2oldmanExplorer II

Just curious.. how does one 'make a mess' of garbage? It's a bunch of garbage!
I pour it into a zip lock baggie. This way it doesn't make a mess of the garbage - 2oldmanExplorer IIHot, right out of the pan, into the garbage.
- SWMOExplorerYeah I came along before WWII also and as I remember my grandmas and my mom used Crisco for baking, for everything else it was bacon grease or lard.
I don't know how bad it is, my grandmothers lived to 87 and 91,my mom is 98.
