How Do You Grind Flax Seed

I have read that to get the most benefit from Flax Seeds, they should be ground in small quantities and kept in the refrigerator. I used to do this until the Braun Coffee Grinder I was using to grind flax seeds quit working. I did not use it for coffee but found it worked great for the flax seeds. I am suspicious that the oil from the flax seeds gummed up the mechanism and it stopped working and has gone to the garbage. What should I replace it with?
I have tried using my mini food processor and it does not do a very good job.

Any suggestions? A pestel and mortar seems "out of date".

For ease of use I think I'd try purchasing another coffee grinder. In order to clean my grinder a whir of uncooked rice does a good job of cleaning out excess oils and products.

You can also use a pepper mill but the time spent, and more coarse ground product seems to lessen the health benefit.

    HTH!
  • You can buy Bob's Old Mill flax meal at various places. I buy the organic variety and keep it in a Mason jar in the fridge. It's easier than grinding it.
  • try a Nutri-Bullet. They have a blade that is pretty good at grinding things up
  • I grind mine in a Mr. Coffee coffee grinder I picked up at a garage sale many years ago for a couple of bucks. When I'm in the RV I have another one I got the same way, don't remember what brand..have never had any problems with either. If I do, I'll just find another one for a small price at a thrift store or garage sale.
