We have two of them and we use them all the time now instead of the stove. No heat in kitchen and the unit is relatively cool, only heating up a bit from the pot or pan used. When the time comes we will replace conventional stove with induction stove.
We also have 2, one in the RV and of course the other at home.
Pros:
Very quick to heat up.
Good temperature control
Clean
No residual heat.
Cons:
Heating surface is small, 9"
You have to have compatible cookware, our CI skillets work great, but we had only one pot that would work.
We can't use ours under the hood without an extension cord. Short heavy duty extensions are another cost.
That's my opinion after about 6 months of daily use. We use ours primarily for breakfast and the one pot meals. I also disagree about the heat factor, heat is heat no matter what device it comes from.
The 9" surface can cause some problems because unlike a normal heating source where the heat tends to flow out and around the pan, this one creates the heat in the pan. This can leave the edges of bigger skillets unable to fry edge to edge.
