Mix kraut with some of the dressing, then layer ingredients a couple of times and bake. This is quite good done in a DO. Sometimes I add some caraway seeds. Serve with a good dark rye. - Super_DaveExplorerOne of my favorite comfort foods is chicken casserole with canned chicken, mushroom soup, American cheese, dab of sour cream and wide noodles.
- Dottie5ExplorerSometimes I buy that pack of canned chicken from Costco. Then I make a casserole with cooked broken up spaghetti, the canned chicken, a can of cream of celery soup and cream of mushroom, a jar of mushrooms and then I season it to taste with salt pepper and mix in some dried chopped onions that I also buy from Costco. Sprinkle a little parmesan chz and bake till bubbly. One of my favorite easy casseroles. Not necessarily healthy but tasty.
- RoyFExplorerIf you don't have eggs, with stale bread, mayo and mustard, salt and pepper, I've made salmon croquets that were pretty good.
- coolmom42Explorer IIMy family loves canned salmon patties. The secret is to get the skillet and oil really hot, and cook the patties quickly to a crunchy crust on both sides.
For a small can of salmon--drain off about 1/2 the liquid. Flake up the salmon with a fork, and mix with one egg. Crumble up saltine crackers with your hands, keep pieces no bigger than about 1/4". Mix the crackers in with the salmon. I don't count the crackers, but add about 8 to start with. Keep the mixture moist enough that it sticks together well. Then cook in the hot skillet. I use olive oil.
