Wal Mart Pancakes?

Has anyone tried the frozen silver dollar pancakes at Wal Mart?

  • Couldn't you cook some ahead of time? I'm always skeptical about food products that have to survive being pre-cooked, packaged, and shipped.
  • My friend says they make great targets while he's at the shooting range.

Are those the ones in the plastic bag that you can get plain or blueberry? If so I've got some. They snuff an urge for pancakes but they aren't great. I thaw them the night before in the fridge, then 30sec for the whole stack in the micro, flip and 30 sec more.

Thanks, that's what I'm looking for. This is would be for convenience with a known sacrifice of quality. During fishing season, breakfasts are on the boat and skillets with pitchers of pancake batter aren't part of the plan. The aerosal can of batter, maybe.
  • Store bought waffles/pancakes belong in the same category as pop-tarts.......yuk :B
  • We use Krusteaz mix that uses water. It's easy to mix it without measuring anything. Just add water until you get the consistency you like.
I don't know that we've tried that particular brand, but we have tried 2 or 3 and didn't care for any of them.
  • One word: rubbery. We make up a juice jug full of homemade pancake dough and just pour out what we want into a hot cast iron fry pan. It only takes a minute or two to heat up the pan. Plop some blueberries or strawberries into the dough once it's in the pan.

Even when it's been in the fridge for a week our homemade batter still tastes better than Wally World's. When it starts to go a little flat, we add a teaspoon of baking powder to the jug and shake to bring it back up again. Cheaper than that packaged product and we know what's in it.
