I made root beer back in the early 50's. We used Hires root beer Extract, water, sugar and you added Yeast to the mixture and let it work before bottling. that's what gave it the FIZZ. Bottle it too soon and the bottle's would explode. I still have the capper and some caps but I expect the cork is dried out. My family made root beer in the 40's so that's how I learned. Good memories.
