Who here eats better while RV'ing than at home?

When we're alone we eat about like we do at home. When we're with friends we always overdo.

We eat the same.

Whilst camping I do a lot of charcoal grilling, some smoking and a lil BBQing. Can't do that at home since I live in a highrise building w/ no terrace. Soooooo if you like that kind of cooking (and we do) then we eat better outdoors than indoors.

I also enjoy outdoor cooking w/o a set recipe and using up leftovers in ways I might not think to do at home where I've a fully stocked pantry. Made up a lovely skillet poached egg dish with chimichurra sauce as the base last year just because I wanted to empty my cooler before going home. Was so good it returned in another guise this summer with watercress pesto as the base.

We aren't big breakfast eaters at home yet something about the air and level of activity causes us to wake up hungry at the campground. This year, rain caused us to forgo a hot dinner one night so we had grill lamb chops and melon slices for breakfast the next morning- smoking!

My only time restraint when cooking dinners is that I want food finished, eaten and clean up done before the sun goes down. I like to see my food in natural light and ensure time to walk to the beach and see the sun go down, cocktail in hand.

We eat mostly the same, but a little worse. By worse I mean bacon. And wine. :) We still incorporate lots of fruit, veggies and lean meats into our meals, and we try and stay somewhat healthy. But we definitely have more treats when we're camping.

Much better because we can take our time! One of my favorite camping activities is experimental cooking, whether it be utilizing a new gadget or just a new recipe. Easier to buy and eat fresh over frozen since our freezer is so small.

We always eat the same everywhere we go. The RV is our home.

I agree with many here. We eat better when camping, probably for several reasons.

• Cooking/Eating is a major part of our camping experience. Dutch Over, grill over the fire, grill on the portable gas grill, crock pot meals after a day of hiking, etc.
• 
  Time for cooking/eating - no other real "have to's" when we are camping. Sure some days are event filled, but others are just sit back and relax.
  

We almost never dutch oven cook at home, but ALWAYS do it at least once per camping trip. Similarly, we don't grill much at home, and although we have a firepit in the back yard, it only gets occasional use when we have company.

Not sure if we eat better, but the food tastes better ! And so does coffee ! Perhaps it's because we have more time to enjoy it .

I have to agree with Dog, we eat better mainly because we are taking advantage of the local foods available, and mostly at lower prices than at home. That and just the availability alone, fresh cheese and smoked fish in WI, lobster in ME, shrimp & seafood on the Gulf coast, etc. Even the restaurants with various local cuisine offer many tempting dishes that need trying. Besides that, there's always the trusty dutch oven.

I eat less. If I had a gourmet breakfast, bratwurst lunch and steak for dinner, very often, I doubt I'd fit thru the door.
