Well I've fixed both the the Goulash and the Stromboli form Bisquick in the last two nights and both are keepers for us.
The goulash brought back old memories from my childhood, thanks Debbi. I also remembered that my mom spiced it with chili powder rater than Italian. I made it strictly to the recipe, but next time I'll try the chili spice. I think both will have their place.
The Stromboli was also very good. I used Pioneer mix, that's what we use, and added a 1/2 tsp of Bakewell Creme, it doesn't have soda in it. I didn't have the peppers, but I always need onion so I just replace the peppers with a 1/2 of a sauteed onion. I also use Jimmy Dean Italian sausage. I only used 12oz like the recipe called for, the other 4oz went in the goulash. Once 1/2 the batter is smooth out in the bottom and the ingredients put on top, I left a 1/2" border, the top batter looks as if it might be short, but it wasn't and it rose up and filled the 2" deep glass pan.
Both would be easy one dish dinners for traveling, and at home.
