Yummy

While camping at Sugar Bottom on the Coralville Reservoir here in Iowa I made a little trip over to the Amana Colonies. I stopped at the butcher shop to see what was available and lo and behold they had sulze(souse) and head cheese. The head cheese was made in house and though not bad it wasn't as good as I have had. The sulze was Clements brand and excellent. I'm about out so I guess I didn't buy near enough sulze. Next I stopped by The Ox Yoke Inn and purchased a quart of pickled ham. I'm about out of that too. I can pickle my own though. Next time I go I will pick up plenty of sulze and freeze what I can't eat right away. I love that stuff.
  • Ahh, the Amana Meat Market, love the place; though I try to stay away from the back room, just too many goodies to buy.
