I've had several of these over the years (it is a pretty rare cancer), and so much depends on how localized the tumor is. If there is spread, the aim is to give as much quality time as possible.
I've had a couple that have been isolated to the gland and surgical removal was curative with no chemo after.
Discuss all this with the oncologist, but don't give up hope.
