Animals can talk

Dakota doesn't enunciate words but he communicates effectively. He nudges my elbow or licks my knee, when wearing shorts to get a hug and scratch his chin.
He wants something to eat he get's his nose under my e,bow and forces it up and kinds snorts. He can be very insistent. He will ignore you when you say find your ball unless he wants to, like a cat.
Sassy rarely acknowledges you but sometimes you greet her or acknowledge her and she will give a meow. she doesn't want you to et her except when she sees you sitting on the couch or use to laying on the bed. Then she insist on being rubbed with your feet.
She is selective and will kinda talk with my wife and allow her to rube her neck and back.
This morning I left the bedroom to check my insulin. I left the door slightly ajar and she took her paws and pushed it open and went in. She wanted something because she went over an d rattled the shades. If you don't acknowledge her, she looks at you then repeats. Wife called be to come ge her out. She wass still trying to sleep. Went in and called to her and got behind her and said let's go. She meowed nooo. We bothe clearly heard her enunciate nooo. We've heard her before but not so clearly. She went left and then around me and to the side of the bed. She wanted my wife to get up and tend to her. She had food in her bowl but wanted my wife to take her to it and then she looks up like see. It has to be piled up a little for her to eat. So she or I end up putting a little more on it. Got to cut down on her food. She is fat as a butterball and wattles.
Garfield sees you coming and he greets you. He tries to talk to you but I don't understand. He clearly makes a variety of tones, high and low and different lengths. It is simply amazing. he understands us clearly and cooperates but all we can say is yes and uh huh etc. When we walked the drive he would stay slightly ahead and the dog in front, all the while trying to carry on some conversation of sorts. I guess I need to pay more attention nd try to figure out what he is trying to communicate. he clearly appears to be making a conversation.
I've know dogs that talked to their masters, in the past. The one most clear was a Rat Terrier. The wife would tell him to get Henry for supper or whatever and he would run to the garden of field and say Henry and supper loud enough to be heard for a ways. When they worked the kitchen garden he would pick up rocks and carry them to the side. You say rat and he went on alert running and searching every corner of the garden or around the house. He brought a good many to the door steps for a reward.
Looks like I'm going to have to get Garfield, Sassy, and Dakota on the porch and we are going to have to all get on the same frequency.
That is if Garfield will leave Dakota a lone. She wants Dakota to let her rub on his chest and head and to rub noses but Dakota just dodges and runs most of the time. She takes after him and slaps at him whne she can corner him like stand still and let me cuddle or something.
  • Thanks Deb! There is still hope that Nita may pick up on the woo wooing. Yes, I love hearing our dogs talk :)

Koda isn't as good a talker as our previous Sammy was, Kenai could talk really well and for a long time. Koda's is more of a woo choke gag wooh!

Ike (my late Aussie) grew up with Rocky the Malamute next door - and Ike's vocabulary was decidedly more "sled dog" than "herding dog". Ike seldom barked - but he DID say woo-woo when excited; and when he wanted something, he'd say "wah". I'd ask him what he "wah-nted" and he'd lead me to whatever needed to be delivered.

However, Ike couldn't match Rocky's ability to say "I love you" (came out more like "Wy wuv woo") - but Rocky would say it like he understood the meaning. He'd say it to me when I'd walk past his house....and without thinking, I'd say out loud "I love you too, Rocky" LOL!
  • Koda our Samoyed, is a leaner. If he wants you to pet him he just leans into you, if that isn't enough of a hint if you are sitting he will just put his head on your leg.

Nita our German Shepherd Dog is a starer, she will just give you laser eyes until you ask her what she wants, then she will direct you. Usually it's that she wants to play, she will bring you the toy or just drop one (or more) at your feet.

  • Teddi taps her nails, both front feet, on the hardwood to get your attention. Won't go into excessive details, but she has us well trained to understand her various wants.
