We use a Power Paw attachment for our Eureka vacuum, I'm sure it will work with most any other vacuum that has hose attachments. Works great, and they're less than $20 so if it fits on yours, no need to buy a whole new vacuum.
Just don't drop them, they're sorta fragile, we've had to replace ours a couple times.

I also recommend this vacuum cleaner if you are about to buy one. - CroweExplorerOreck.
- computerbugExplorerI use rubber gloves to wipe the fur away and a Hoover.
- colliehaulerExplorer IIINanolight by Hoover for $53 at Walmart. I have 3 long hair Collies.
- Deb_and_Ed_MExplorer III have a Sanitaire (commercial division of Eureka) upright - no bells or whistles (think "hotel vacuum") - but incredible suction. If I need a canister vac, I have an old Eureka Mighty Mite that has served me well.
On the other hand, my Cattle Dog sheds hair that's the canine equivalent of porcupine quills. I found long ago, that a damp terrycloth towel rolls up dog hair as easily as anything else - once I "roll" the dog hair, the vac can pick it off the furniture :-( If the hair is embedded in a floor rug, I spritz the area with water, then rub my rubber-soled tennis shoe across it. - TiggsExplorerI bought a shark professional, living with three wolfhound and a terrier and couldn't be happier with how it handles dog hair. I felt my old dyson just was not doing it's job anymore anymore and I was right. It's lighter weight tha the dyson so I've found it can tip over easier but for the cost vs value tradeoff, I feel I'm ahead over replacing with another dyson.
Very best way to take dog hair off of cloth furniture that I've found is to use a slightly damp terry cloth and brush briskly in the direction of the nap. It will also remove the surface dirt.
Carolyn - CampinghossExplorer IIWe have Bissell in the fiver and a rainbow in our home. The rainbow does a great job and the Bissell bagless does a good job in the fiver. The Bissell lays flat and stores under the bed nicely.
I would suggest investing in the FURminator Deshedding tool. They make ones for long haired and short haired dogs and cats. It will cut down on the shedding at least 50% IF you use it daily or at least every other day. Our small dog does not shed but the large one does. It really has helped in both the fiver and home. Well worth the money. - pronstarExplorerWe use a Power Paw attachment for our Eureka vacuum, I'm sure it will work with most any other vacuum that has hose attachments.
