Camping at Kings Canyon & Yosemite around new years?

I've not been to this area since I was around 9 years old, My dad use to take us way back then. Anyways I'm wondering about weather conditions & what parts of the parks would be open to us with our...

It could be sunny and 80 degrees or snowing and below freezing or anything in between in Yosemite Valley. Kings Canyon may be OK but snow or storms are always a possibility that time of year.

Before December and after April are the best months to go for good weather.
