Camping at Kings Canyon & Yosemite around new years?

I've not been to this area since I was around 9 years old, My dad use to take us way back then. Anyways I'm wondering about weather conditions & what parts of the parks would be open to us with our...

Just spoke to the people at Kimg Canyon & they be sickly told me they are NOT dog friendly.
Dogs are not allowed on any trails & I was told dog are only allowed in the camp ground & inside the car & no where else!

So I won't be visiting there. :(
