A little FYI …
Kings Canyon and Yosemite are both National Parks. And I believe that almost all National Parks have a "no dogs on trails" rule. That said, there are still many places you can visit within both parks with your dog. But if you're thinking on going to Kings Canyon around New Years, you'd better have chains for your car/rig and LOTS of warm clothes. Same thing for Yosemite. It'll be beautiful, but pretty nippy!
