Our dogs are 19 & 23 pounds, 13 & 7 years old. We have found that no matter how we tie the leads, they manage tangle them around something in the campsite.
We use two x-pens, with four of the panels in a doghouse configuration (I made a cover). The girls love the x-pen, they have room to move around and a place to nap. (they have never figured out that they might be able to jump out.)
Since we do not leave them outside unattended, we have never had a problem with site owners. If we are inside the rig, the first sign of barking is checked out and responded to appropriately.
Ditto. We also have a couple of folding dog beds from Camping World that are off the ground that we put in the x-pen for the dogs to rest on. To shade them from the sun (we camp mainly in GA and FL), we have the top section of a beach umbrella that I open and drape over one end of the x-pen that has their beds under it.
