Sometimes it IS all about the introductions. My Aussie Ike wanted nothing to do with men - I suspect there had been abuse from his prior owner's husband. But when my son-in-law Creig first visited after we got Ike and I explained the dog's fear of men, Creig got down on his hands and knees and did a "play bow" to Ike. Ike immediately responded in happy play - and a bond was forged that lasted Ike's lifetime. Some people just know how to tell a dog "I will never hurt you".
