First camping trip with the dog

If it's really hot, they and usually we are inside. I'm talking mid to high 90's and we are INSIDE during the summer.

The only time they are off their leash is in a dog park or at home where we have a 5' tall fence.

We said the same thing. DH had talked me into a truck camper, but I was adamant that we needed a larger one to accommodate our large weim. He was older and his comfort was priority one.

Now that he has passed, it feels positively huge. I didn't realize how much floor space we have. So sad. I miss it being filled.

Our cavalier sleeps in a crate at home, but with us in the TC. He's great and is so adaptable. He's perfect in the boat while fishing.

I'm sure your dog will only enhance your camping trips. Teach him proper manners and clean up after him and you'll have few issues. Dogs are family, they want to be included. Relax and have fun! BTW, bring him things to do as you would a 2 year old. They get bored too.

We travel with 4 terriers, Jack Russell, Toy Fox Terrier, Rat Terrier & Pug/Rat Terrier (Puggat) designer dog or mutt. They all are small and weigh between 19 to 9 lbs. Three sleep in bed with us and JR sleeps in the living room chair. He would like to be in our bed, but the girls will not let him. Anyway I want to get the DH to build a dog bed under our beds storage area for Spot to join us in the same room. As far as getting up at night I have motion sensor lights to see our way in the camper.

When our dogs (one or two at a time) have bed time trailer privileges they all know that under the dinette on the dog bed (or in a corner near our bed) is their sleeping location.

Our dogs love camping. Of course, they sleep in bed with us so no worries about stepping on them in the middle of the night. I'm sure your poodle will do fine - they're very adaptable dogs. I'd take the dog's brush, some dog shampoo, and a dog towel, just in case the dog gets into something stinky or messy. We take our 12 lb. maltese/westie mix and our 66 lb. boxer with us in our Aliner Ranger 15, and it works. The little dog sleeps on her bed on a dinette seat cushion, and the boxer sleeps on his bed under the dinette. Easy-peasy.

She loves road trips and sits between the kids in the back seat. I'm sure she'll have a blast, but she better not let me catch her in my bed. The cats have her pretty well trained to stay off the bed already, but she still thinks the they'll eventually play with her if she runs around them enough.

We take 2 of our Boston's with us and after they laid the rules down about what small corner of the bed the DW and I get everyone is happy.:h
