Mikko (my 96 pound Collie) broke his front leg at the ankle. I took him to the vet and K-State and they said the only thing they could do was put in a plate that would fuse the joint. It healed up and he can walk on it but the foot is turned in.
I had to make some changes as well. My master bedroom is downstairs and did not want him to take the stairs. I moved the dog beds to the main floor. It took a while but they got use to sleeping there instead of my bedroom. Another change I made was to make them use a ramp to get into/out of the truck, no jumping. Lassie my other Collie is almost 15 and could not jump anyway and needed a ramp.
I hope everything heals up ok but I would take precautions in the future to prevent future injuries.
